Our astrological birth chart is a living, breathing dialogue of archetypal energies, an ancient churning broth, which offers a bounty of invitations to dance within a great cosmic question: What does it mean to be our distinct selves in the midst of this evolving human experiment, at this place and time in history?

We look to the sky to tell us a story of the glittering expanse dwelling inside. We gaze above to guide us on our path below, petitioning the heavens that they may open a protected way for us. We take in the heavenly bodies in awe and feel both our smallness and our profound relatedness to all things. We transcribe the twinkling display of celestial bodies from their homes across the sky to our now-digital scrolls, meticulously interpreting their sweeping influence.

Who are we? What experiences have formed us? When do we most feel like ourselves? How do we take care of others? What do we think and talk about, and how do we listen? What do we desire and how do we get there? Where are we inspired or overzealous and where do we get stuck? Where can we direct our profound energies for the support of the collective?

There are as many kinds of astrological readings as there are astrologers; we can’t help but live our chart as we read and interpret for others. In my estimation, the most nourishing of astrological readings can give us an opportunity to enter into a field of inspiration and containment where we feel seen, heard and reflected. An astrological reading can truly open our hearts as we reveal ourselves in the kind holding of wise counsel, and at their best, once our reading is complete, we can re-enter the stream of our day-to-day life having been uplifted or reinvigorated for our continued travels. Depending on the astrologer and our purpose for the reading, we may be given direct guidance around the timing of an important event, expectations on how to proceed with certain material endeavors, or insights around relational dynamics.
